Sooooooo…I did a thing! #Shocker

It is so hard for me to sit down. If I am still for too long, I get this overwhelming feeling like I could make better use of the time doing something. I know…I should sit my narrow tail down sometimes, but I truly cannot help it. I know this is why I am always so vested in people. I just want to be of service and if I hear an inkling of where I can be, I’m jumping in head first. #ABlessing #AndSometimesABurden

Today was just another one of those days. #MoverAndAShaker #IfYouStayReadyYouDontHaveToGet Ready When I went on vacation a couple weeks ago, I set out to dress up my walls on the main level. I am not one for situated wall art, but I do love it when I see other people do it. I always think to myself, I should / could do that. Regretfully, I didn’t get to this task while on vacation because…well…vacation. I truly did minimal work and since this task required brain power, I happily postponed it.

Instead of wall art, I had it in my head to do some lighting to the right and left of the TV. Wall sconces is the proper name, I guess. I found some battery operated ones so that the job didn’t require any wiring. I didn’t really feel like watching the hubby cuss me out in his head AND I didn’t want more holes in the walls to run wiring. #WinWin

After some laser leveling top to bottom and side to side, and a trip to Home Depot for more wall anchors…Behold, I give you…wall decor!

Now, in the pictures the left sconce looks a little further away, but I promise it’s not. What we did learn, though, is that the fireplace is not centered on that wall. The hubby stared at it for a long time…cussing in his head…mad…beating himself up for not paying more attention to centering the fireplace before installing. #YouLiveAndYouLearn

Buuuuuuuut den…yes, I said it that way on purpose…den, I got real froggy and put my interchangeable wreath up. I will switch out with the seasons and holidays. I do this for my front door, but this time, I wanted something above the girls’ chalkboard. Now, I realize I need some lighting, so I am on the hunt for bats that eyes light up, buuuuuuuuuuuut…

Guess I will sit it down for now. Only God knows what I will create next!

If there is one thing that has never changed with Thing 2, it’s her love-hate relationship with sleep. She fights it at night, even when she is dog tired. Then, come the next morning, she will sleep in until high noon if you let her. Now that school is back in session, sleeping in is a thing of the past.

For the first week or so of school starting, Thing 2 was up and at ’em. She would be too excited to sleep as hard as she typically does. I mean, this kid has not met an alarm clock that did not put her into a deeper sleep…UNTIL NOW!

I bought a cute, old-fashioned, alarm clock. I figured, the cuteness of it would make Thing 2 want to display it right next to her bed…never mind the fact how loud and annoying I knew it was going to be when the alarm went off. We got it all setup. She even heard the alarm sound for just a few seconds…can’t spoil the morning surprise. For the mornings where she was still too excited, the alarm was still cute. Yesterday, though, I noticed when the alarm went off, there was a quick and angry end to it’s sound. And then today, the newness of the school AND the clock CLEARLY wore off! I discovered this…

Thing 2 decided this ish was for the birds! I cannot tell you how many chuckles I got out of this one. I mean, no other alarm clock would get her up…no clock, no radio, no Alexa sound, no loud music…NOTHING!

So, here we are. I did what any loving mother would do. I put the batteries back in and reset the clock for tomorrow. Now that I know there is a sound that will get you out of bed each day, you best take your butt to bed at night. I have a stash of C batteries ready for you, Thing 2! And try to break it…your allowance will buy a new one. #ILoveMyLife
